Beenius to develop Smart TV product in partnership with HumanLayer

Slovenia-based interactive TV middleware provider Beenius has teamed up with Serbia-based programming company Humanlayer to develop a Smart TV version of its platform for the first time.

Beesmart is already deployed on PCs and Android and iOS tablets as well as set-top boxes. The new Beesmart app will be available first on Samsung Smart TVS and will be launched at the TV Connect show in London later this month.

Milutin Cvetković, Humanlayer CEO, said: “The API enables the creation of numerous simpler apps for BeeStore, which will prove particularly appealing to operators in terms of ARPU possibilities. This joint project for the development of Smart TV app can be considered as a proof-of-concept for the API and its applicability.”

BeeSmart teams with Icareus for social TV apps

Slovenia-based middleware provider BeeSmart has teamed up with Finland-based Icareus to offer new Facebook and Twitter applications as part of the BeeSmart Platform.

Icareus, which offers a range of products for interactive TV content and interactive TV software tools, developed specific Facebook and Twitter applications for BeeSmart middleware, allowing TV viewers to share information about content via social networks.

“We welcome Icareus in the BeeSmart community of development partners. With their addition, BeeSmart middleware is even more appealing for end-users and operators, which is something that both companies are striving for,” said Marko Hiti, chief technology officer of BeeSmart.

Beesmart teams up with Vestel

Slovenia-based middleware provider Beesmart has teamed up with Turkey-based device manufacturer Vestel to take the Beesmart middleware to Vestel set-top boxes and jointly drive the development of applications and services.

“Beesmart’s experience and knowledge of the IP set-top box industry made them an ideal partner to us,” said Hakan Kutlu, deputy general manager responsible for marketing in Vestel. “Consumers want user-friendly solutions for IPTV content in their living rooms. With Beesmart middleware, Vestel Set-Top-Boxes will increase technology and innovation to meet consumer demands.”
