CanalPlay VOD deal for Thomson mywishTV

04 Nov 09 -

Pay-TV provider Canal Plus Group has teamed up with TCL, the manufacturer and distributor of Thomson-branded TVs, to offer the former’s on-demand service CanalPlay via Thomson’s mywishTV LCD digital TVs in France.

Under the agreement, consumers with mywishTV TVs will be able to access the CanalPlay catalogue of more than 7,000 titles (including about 90% of film titles available on the Box Office service – about 3,500 titles) direct to their screens over the internet.

Equipped with integrated WiFi, mywishTV allows users to connect to the internet wirelessly and to download CanalPlay content onto their integrated 4GB of Flash memory. The use of the device’s SD card reader will allow users to download a larger number of films.

Thomson’s mywishTV TVs are HD and digital-terrestrial TV-ready, with 82cm screens available for around €750 and 102cm screens available for around €900. Five CanalPlay films will be included free of charge from launch until June 30 next year.
