Bulgaria's Vestitel chooses Widevine

25 Mar 09 -

Bulgarian ISP Vestitel has chosen Widevine to provide content security for its IPTV service.

Vestitel provides a hosted IPTV service to regional operators who rebrand the service for their subscribers. Widevine Cypher will enable Vestitel to encrypt premium content offerings once, while passing rights control to downstream operators and keeping content persistently secure to the subscriber device, according to Widevine.

Vestitel, owned by Overgas Holdings, currently offers over 70 broadcast channels and additional interactive services. The company’s FTTB network is built in parallel to its gas distribution network in the main Bulgarian cities.
