Astra helps Sogecable deliver HD

Satellite operator SES Astra has announced that it is helping Spanish pay-TV operator Sogecable to develop its high-definition offer by providing two additional transponders at its 19.2° East orbital position.

Sogecable has been broadcasting from 19.2° East since its launch in 1993. Its pay-TV brand Digital Plus has 1.8 million subscribers.

SES Astra said it reaches 1.9 million free- and pay-TV households in Spain. In total, it broadcasts 135 HD channels to around six million HD viewers on its satellite fleet.
