TeliaSonera passes 700,000 TV subs

Nordic telco TeliaSonera added 104,000 TV subscribers in the 12 months to the end of June, giving it a total of 711,000. Of those, 532,000 were IPTV subscribers.

During the second quarter of 2009, the operator added 23,000 new IPTV subscribers, of which 17,000 were in Sweden. More than 20% of Telia-Sonera’s broadband customers now also subscribe to TV services. The number of subscriptions for broadband access rose to 2,288,000, an increase of 60,000 from the second quarter of 2008 and a decrease of 12,000 during the quarter. The number of fixed-voice subscriptions decreased by 522,000 year-on-year to 5,491,000.

TeliaSonera’s Broadband Services division, which includes broadband, cable, IPTV and telephony services in Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, recorded net sales of SEK10.7bn (€1bn) for the second quarter of the year, up 2% year-on-year. EBITDA was up 22% to SEK3.35bn. Broadband ARPU rose SEK26 to SEK311.
