Altice agrees global partnership with Netflix
The multi-year partnership will make Netflix available to Altice customers on “all eligible devices” in France, Portugal, Israel and the Dominican Republic.
France will be the first Altice territory to launch Netflix, with promotional SFR family offers with Netflix to be made available from this week. The rollout to other countries will follow throughout 2017.
“We are thrilled to launch our global partnership with Netflix,” said Altice CEO Michel Combes. “Our content-centric experience strategy is to expand our commitment to provide the best content to our customers combining Netflix service into Altice customer’s life is making both more attractive.”
Netflix CEO, Reed Hastings, said: “With this global partnership and thanks to more than 1,000 hours of new original Netflix content slated for 2017, Altice’s customers will be able to seamlessly access and enjoy all the best entertainment in one place.”
The Netflix deal follows Altice’s investment in content and sport through Altice studio’s original creations, acquisitions of series and movies rights, and local and global distribution partnerships.
The launch of the Netflix service on Altice’s platforms will add original Netflix series, movies, documentaries, stand-up comedies and a wide range of kids’ programming to Altice’s customers across the globe.
The news comes less than a month after Altice announced plans to unify its assets under the single brand name, Altice.
The Altice name, brand and new logo is expected to replace the current brands at each of Altice’s operating companies by the end of the second quarter of 2018. This will apply to brands including Portugal Telecom, SFR Group in France, and Cablevision and Suddenlink in the US.
