Ex-ITV boss to probe BBC’s impartiality
Stuart Prebble, the former chief of UK commercial broadcaster ITV, will lead an investigation into the impartiality of UK public broadcaster the BBC.
The report into the BBC was ordered by the BBC Trust, which oversees the corporation’s activities and follows an earlier 2007 probe into the BBC’s reporting against a background of social and technological change. The new report will examine how the recommendations in that report have been implemented.
Ex-ITV CEO Prebble said: “I am delighted to have been invited to lead this important study for the BBC. Having spent most of my career outside the BBC I look forward to bringing a fresh perspective to examine how well the commitment to breadth of voice – which is unique to the BBC – is being met.”
