ONO to launch 500Mbps service next month
ONO is to launch 500Mbps internet services in October, CEO Rosalia Portela told attendees at the CTAM Europe EuroSummit today.
Portalia, speaking on the CEO panel at the EuroSummit, said the Spanish cable operator’s approach in a difficult economic situation is to focus on its portfolio of services including high-speed internet, which differentiated it from rival Telefonica.
ONO is also focusing on its TiVo-based TV service, targeted at customers willing to pay a little more.
However, Portalia said ONO had rationalised its operations, reducing its headcount and improving productivity.
“We sell good products at the best possible price,” she said.
Portela said that she believed that Netflix, which had made preparations for a Spanish launch, had realised that the Spanish market was very difficult and had changed its mind. The streaming company had also faced some challenges in the US at the time when it was looking at launching in Spain.
